Protection class VPAM 8 provides protection against an armor-piercing bullet of the Kalashnikov type.

(7.62 mm rifle. Cartridge 0.308 "Winchester" (7.62x51 mm NATO). The ball is sharp, with a solid metal shell and a particularly hard steel core, velocity 820 m/s.)

The ceramic cores of the plates are encased in a high-performance fiberglass shell with a PET matrix. That helps to control the structure of cracks and reliably protects against repeated impact.
