Description

The SDR V4 based on the RTL2832U with the R828D tuner is a compact USB Software Defined Radio receiver that turns your computer into a fully featured radio monitoring station. Plug the dongle into USB, install compatible software, and you can view the spectrum, set filters, choose demodulation modes and record signals across a wide frequency range. Thanks to the 1PPM temperature-compensated oscillator (TCXO), the receiver holds frequency far more accurately than typical budget solutions — important for narrowband modes, beacon reception and digital protocols.

The key difference of the V4 version is HF support: the built-in upconverter lets you work with shortwave bands without separate external converters. Antennas connect via an SMA connector, making it easy to build a system with filters, attenuators or directional antennas. And the Bias-T, enabled in software, allows you to power active antennas or LNA amplifiers directly over the coaxial cable — handy for field use and fixed monitoring setups.

The robust aluminium enclosure provides shielding and helps dissipate heat during long-term operation. The device is suitable for the air band and ADS-B monitoring, maritime AIS messages, ACARS, weather satellite reception, DAB, amateur radio tasks and basic RF analysis. Note: for correct operation you need drivers specifically for RTL-SDR Blog V4; standard drivers for older dongles may not detect the device or may work incorrectly.
