Description of the TinySA Ultra spectrum analyzer

Portable spectrum analyzer with a frequency range from 100 kHz to 6 GHz. This unit features a four-inch touch resistive color display that displays the full frequency range at 450 scan points, and includes a rechargeable battery that provides up to two hours of portable operation. In addition, the analyzer works in two modes: normal and ultra mode. In addition, the TinySA Ultra has many built-in configuration options, including a bandpass filter and a stepped input attenuator. The maximum input level of the TinySA is +6 dBm. When the tinySA Ultra is not being used as a spectrum analyzer, it can also be used as a sine wave or square wave generator. The analyzer can be fully controlled by a PC via a USB cable. It also features automatic self-testing and self-calibration with a built-in signal generator.

Specifications

  • Frequency range from 100 kHz to 800 MHz in normal mode and up to 6 GHz in ULTRA mode
  • 50 ohm input impedance when the attenuator is on 10dB or more
  • Adjustable manual or automatic signal input attenuator with a range of 0 dB to 31 dB in 1 dB steps
  • The maximum input level of signals is +10 dBm with the attenuator turned off
  • The maximum short-term level is +20 dBm with a 30 dB attenuator
  • Recommended maximum input power is +5 dBm with the attenuator operating in automatic mode
  • For the most correct measurements, observe the signal level at the input no higher than -25dBm
  • Compression point for measuring intermodulation distortions of the 3rd order (IIP3) +15dBm with the attenuator off
  • 1dB compression point at -1dBm with the attenuator off
  • Resolution of the power detector is 0.5 dB. Linearity depending on frequency +/-2 dB
  • The absolute accuracy of the power level detector after calibration is +/-2 dB
  • Built-in 20dB LNA LNA with a noise level of 5dB
  • Lowest noticeable signal without LNA at 30 MHz using a 30 kHz resolution bandwidth -102 dBm
  • Lowest noticeable signal from LNA at 30 MHz using 200 Hz resolution bandwidth -145 dBm
  • Frequency precision equal to the selected bandwidth resolution
  • Phase noise -90dB/Hz at 100 kHz offset and -120dB/Hz at 1 MHz offset
  • Dynamic range when using a 30 kHz resolution bandwidth of 70 dB
  • Permissive filters 0.2, 1, 3, 10, 30, 100, 300, 600 and 850 kHz
  • Scan permission 51, 101, 145, 290 or 450 points
  • Scanning speed over 1000 points per second
  • Automatic optimization of actual scan points to ensure full scan range coverage regardless of selected bandwidth resolution
  • Headphone output for listening to a demodulated signal (AM only)

Generator of standard signals:

  •  A sinusoidal signal with a level of harmonics less than -40dB in the range from 100 kHz to 800 MHz
  • The output signal level with a step of 1dB in the range from -113dBm to -18dBm
  • Up to 800 MHz, you can choose 2 options for the accuracy of the generation according to the output signal:
  • 1) Clean signal: meander up to 4.4GHz with coarse frequency tuning and low accuracy of output signal levels
  • 2) High-precision mode: maximum suppression of harmonics up to 5.4GHz with good frequency resolution up to 800MHz, accurate signal levels at the generator output
  • Output level accuracy +/- 2 dB up to 800 MHz in the range of -72 dBm to -18 dBm, less accuracy below -72 dBm, even less accuracy below -110 dBm
  • Frequency range from 44Hz to 800 MHz
  • Separate settings by modulating signal for AM and FM from 50 Hz to 5 kHz (AM) or 1 kHz (FM) or FM mode in selected band
  • Modulation depth from 10% to 100%
  • FM frequency deviation from 1 kHz to 300 kHz
  • Calibration generator: meander generator with an output level of -35.6dBm. Connected to the CAL output. Frequencies fixed at 1 MHz, 2 MHz, 4 MHz, 10 MHz, 15 MHz or 30 MHz
